The Booking Experience

They have a great user friendly website which contains much information that explains all in detail. You can easily book your accommodation in seconds online. We had the luxury of having ours booked for us. We immediately received an email with all the information we needed to come and enjoy a great experience. They highlight their terms & conditions of the property you have booked and provide you as well with a detailed document explaining and listing all the article and items you can find in the Lushna Pod and the ones you might want to bring along from home.  Really Emma and Robert make it so simple and easy to book and to prepare for an enjoyable getaway.

We left London on a Friday afternoon trying to avoid, as much as possible, rush hour and not be stuck in traffic. We did, but not that much! After a 2 hours and 34 minutes drive we arrived from central London at Lee Wick Farms.

It was already quite dark as we approached to where our nav sat indicated we had arrived at our final destination. We did find the sign indicating you we were at the Lee Wick Farms, but then you need to be careful to follow indications where you should drive to get to your Pod. We stayed at the Lushna, these are lovely little wooden cottages, very modern and simple and so well thought out. Extremely practical they provide you with everything you need! Really it’s like camping but with all the comforts you need: a bathroom with shower, a double bed with a platform above accessed by a ladder (like a large bunk bed) with two additional mattresses.  A perfect pod to stay at for a family of 4, with a secluded garden, and a log fired hot tub, which for us made this experience a much more enjoyable and unforgettable one, you can hire them for an additional £60 which is totally worth it. There also is a BBQ, but make sure to bring your own charcoal and tools, cook one or two bbqs during your stay.

When we first arrived, of course we did not park in our spot as we couldn’t remember our Lushna’s number! We looked for the email we received upon booking the Lushna and then were able to park in our designated spot, number 4.

As soon as we got off the car, we looked up to the sky: it was simply beautiful with all the stars that were twinkling up above. The blissful silence and chilly breeze made it a magical night.  Using a torch we managed to walk up to our Lushna.

As indicated in the email we received at the time of the booking, we entered the code provided in it, which opened a little box where you find the key to your Lushna. Very clever way to quickly check in on your own.

By the way, we also received a reminder email one day prior to our arrival day with all the information they had already provided us before – this is a great touch as in today’s busy world it’s good to have a reminder as this one.

We settled in and got to explore our Lushna. It is so lovely and cosy. They really thought of everything including the little (for my son super fun) wagons they offer their guests to use to bring their luggage into their Lushna from the parking lot. My son, who is a toddler, loved this wagon as he pulled it, dragged it and also used it as his own car as he made us pull it with him on it!

They provide everything you may possible need inside the Lushna.  The first thing we did as we were settling in was to immediately start heating the hot tub so as to enjoy it under the starry night  we were gifted with.

As we played with our son, we took turns to sip wine and we then went into the hot tub for full time relaxation. Perfect way to unwind from a long week and start our glampling adventure.

Day One- Glamping

We slowly woke up and started planning on how to cook breakfast. We decided to do so outside the Lushna and on our private patio. We prepared scrambled eggs whilst our little one was running all around enjoying nature and breathing the nice crisp fresh morning air.

They have a guest book with recommendation on what do to, where to buy essential things, suggestions of food delivery and restaurants located in the area and the closest town, in this way offering different options from which to chose your preferred one.

We followed their suggestion and went to the butcher in St. Osyth. You must go there to get your meat for the BBQ. Please try their homemade wild boar sausage with apple, what a simple delight! We also had their homemade burgers and lovely steaks that melted in our mouths – such tender meat!

We missed buying fresh fish from Tony, who sells it from his house, as unfortunately, at this time of the year he is closed on Saturdays and only open on Fridays. The local Nisa is a great place to get all your grocery needs.

After getting everything ready for our BBQ we embarked on another of their recommendations and headed off to visit the nature reserve by the beach where you can see a lot of different birds such as Barn Owls, little Egrets, Curlews and Marsh Harriers.

A nice beautiful walk – however it’s very muddy, so be sure to wear wellies or boots.

Then we decided to go back to our Lushna and slowly started heating again the hot tub and also the BBQ.  After our lovely feast we enjoyed the heat of the BBQ fire and the hot tube. This time we went in with our son, as he really wanted to go in. Just a quick little dip

We were so lucky with the nice weather as they had predicted rain and a very cloudy weekend and at the end it was sunny and beautiful!

Day Two- Glamping

The day started off with a mix of rain and sunshine that managed to come in through the curtains. We got up and starting packing as we needed to leave the Lushna by 11 am, and with a toddler it is better to ensure you have enough time to get ready.

After we had packed all our belongings we drained the water from the hot tub.It was time to leave this beautiful and serene place. We had a perfect drive back to London as we didn’t get any traffic on the road.

Emma and Robert have created a lovely place for an excellent getaway from the stressful city life and to enjoy nature at its best.

Kensington Mums verdict

We are sure that this is a great place during the summer as its location is very close to the coast with beautiful beaches. But it is well worth to pay a visit during this magical time of year. I highly recommend this stunning nature reserve to celebrate a special occasion as a birthday, an anniversary or simply a family getaway!

Go visit them you will surely to enjoy it as much as we did! Make sure you read more of our travel reviews here, including family travel to Dubai and Holland.
