Help those in need this Christmas
This November, why not do something wonderful for charity without having to open your wallet: donate your unwanted coats to the annual Winter Coat Campaign!
Since 2011 local Kensington resident Frances Manthos has been running ‘Calling London’, an entirely voluntary charity, that collects warm coats to distribute to London’s most vulnerable people, such as the homeless, the elderly, refugees and families with children. Nothing is sold, just given out.
Last year nearly 5000 coats were donated, and here’s where you can help — take a look through your wardrobes and consider giving away those coats, duffles, ski jackets and puffas that your family doesn’t need any longer. ‘Calling London’ asks that they be in good, clean condition, as they will be given straight out to its beneficiaries.
There are over 40 public donation points in London (which you can find on the website: callinglondon.org.uk/latest-news) and those in the Kensington area are
Chestertons Notting Hill 30 Ledbury Road W11 2AB
Chestertons Kensington High st 116 Kensington High St W8 7RW
Chestertons South Kensington 44 Old Brompton Rd SW7 3DY
You have until the 30th November, so there’s still plenty of time to get involved.
