When and where
Premium boutique fitness brand Barrecore has introduced barre classes at the luxury Four Seasons Hotel at Park Lane this summer.
Barre classes will run every morning until the end of September at the tenth-floor spa with stunning views of the London skyline. KensingtonMums couldn’t resist trying these classes out.
What is it?
Barrecore is a fusion of ballet, pilates and yoga. It involves tiny micro-movements and resistance which achieve maximum burn.
Fans of Barre include Jourdan Dunn, Rita Ora and Pippa Middleton.
The class – what to expect
The classes are small with a maximum of eight people. The instructor, Bethany, was instantly welcoming, chatty and ensured the class was not intimidating in the slightest for a complete novice like myself.
The class itself was surprisingly challenging despite the small movements. I felt each of my muscle groups were challenged and pushed to the limit. The burn and muscle shake was intense but just as I thought I couldn’t stand it anymore we were done with that set. I loved Bethany’s calm approach and the way she counted the seconds we needed to hold a pose by clicking her fingers. To my surprise I also sweated as much as I would with a higher intensity exercise class!
The luxurious setting and the views were breathtaking. We kept the balcony doors open allowing a wonderfully refreshing breeze in throughout the class.
As for the changing rooms – I can’t remember the last time I had such service and amenities for an exercise class. From fluffy robes, to every type of toiletry you may need including individual combs and several types of hair styling tools – everything was provided for. Any time I put a used towel down it would disappear and be replaced by a fresh one as if by magic by staff I hardly noticed had been there. The ladies at the reception were wonderfully welcoming and there is also an optional extra which allows you to use the rejuvenating Heat Experience spa for some post-work out relaxation.
This low intensity work out really does pack a punch! Not intimidating for a first timer and I was still smiling by the end (which may have also been down to the sense of camaraderie that Bethany creates amongst the group). I may not have been able to walk down stairs without wincing the next day but I enjoyed my class so much that I have already signed up for my next session.
Classes can be booked via the Barrecore website and app, costing £28 per session. As well as the single-cost classes, guests can also purchase Barrecore’s introductory offers; three classes for £56 or £150 for unlimited classes a month. Both options can be used within the Four Season’s hospitality.
