Hanwell Zoo
Little Zoo, big Impact.
Make this a fun family day out. Hanwell Zoo is a world leader in community involvement. We visited the Zoo and saw The recycling efforts of 1.3 million UK school children brought to life in the form of a unique elephant sculpture made from thousands of used batteries. The elephant sculpture helps dramatize the sheer volume of batteries (170 tonnes) Duracell was able to recycle so far this year through its Big Battery Hunt campaign – the equivalent to 68 African elephants. On display at the zoo for the remainder of the school holidays, this striking elephant acts as a visual celebration of the environmental efforts of the masses of gorgeous primary school children who have been involved in the campaign since its inception and we hope it will also inspire a whole new generation of battery recyclers. Check their website for more information.
