Please introduce yourself: Name, what do you do & how many children you have.
My name is Carlo Diforti. I’m one of the directors of Diforti, a family-run and owned online Italian Deli. My brother Andrea and I run the company, which was founded by our great-great-grandfather Michele back in 1875. We specialise in bringing the very of Italian cuisine to the UK. I have one beautiful little girl – Martina, and my brother has just had a daughter, Klara. Maybe one day they will take over the family business, just like their fathers.
How do you manage to juggle work and life balance as a father?
It’s difficult, you want to spend as much time as possible with your family, but you still need to keep a roof over your heads. That’s the beauty of running a family business, we spend a lot of time together. Family first!
What makes you, as a dad, happy?
My child’s happiness
What is your favourite & least favourite thing about parenthood?
Martina is very young so she’s not speaking yet, but I love to see that flicker of recognition across her face, her little smiles. I can’t wait for her to speak! My least favourite thing about fatherhood is worrying about her, worrying that she’s safe.
If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?
I’m Italian. I have a moustache. I have a brother. Super Mario of course!
Tell us something mummy doesn’t know, something that happened during a ‘dad on duty’ moment.
I’ve been pretty good actually. Although there’s plenty of time to make some mistakes…
I’m a dad and……?
I LOVE MY FAMILY
What advice would you give a first-time dad?
Get fit and make sure you’ve slept enough hours.
What does fatherhood represent to you?
The next generation
