Play On Words – a Free Family Fun Day at The British Library – Saturday 25 March. Join artists Meera Chauda and Helen Rousseau to play with words and performance in this creative family workshop. Inspired by the large variety of words found in our Treasures Gallery, as well as manifestos, magazines and poems from the British Library’s collection, families will print, collage, write and make. Come and think like a scientist at Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery at the Science Museum.  Revealing the beauty of the science and maths that shape our everyday lives, this unmissable experience will ignite your curiosity, fuel your imagination and inspire you to see the world around you in new and exciting ways.  A selection of the following shows will be performed daily by our team of Explainers in Wonderlab’s beautiful new show space:Live Wire! Exploring circuits and how your home is powered (Ages 6-10). Flash! Bang! Wallop! All about the chemistry of explosions and fire (Ages 7-12). The Rocket Show How Newton’s laws of motion get rockets into space and back down again (Ages 9-14). Under Pressure! How forces make the seemingly impossible possible (would you sit on a chair of nails?) Award winning  Clowns, Chervotkins Duo, will guide the audience through this show incredible show which features acts like the Didyk Troupe, acrobatics on Europe’s only DOUBLE Russian swings. Flying through the air and somersaulting from one fast moving swing to another, incredible! The Alikhanov Troupe perform on two ten meter pole’s balanced on one shoulder of a man with not 1 but 3 girls climbing and spinning to the very top of the same pole then 5 people walking the high wire. Plus Unicyclists the Gorodetskiys Duo, Eugeniy Hochrova Foot Juggling & the sensational trapeze artistes. Register before the Ides of March for 10% off any one week Holiday Club! April Easter Holiday Club – MON-FRI, 3-13 April – one or two fun filled weeks where your child will be a Young Engineer. In the first week explore how different vehicles move. Discover how belt and gear transmissions work by building street sweepers and steamrollers.  The second week will focus on building different robots.Your child will build their knowledge of various engineering principles.  Independent creative thinking is encouraged while playing with the models they have built.  At Young Engineers it is all about learning through play! Family Art Fun at the V&A. Visit the V&A for free Family Art Fun. On Saturdays take part in exciting performances suitable for all ages and join a session inspired by the stories of Rudyard Kipling on 25 March. On Sundays pick up a design challenge and bring your ideas to life; on 26 March create your own Mother’s Day card inspired by amazing patterns and shapes. During Easter holidays, celebrate the season across the Museum and create your own pop-up piece of paper art, see an interactive performance and transport yourself into paintings of nature with green screen photography.

This Easter visit WWT London Wetland Centre to see the 14 celebrity Dusty Duck characters, made with the help of Aardman studios. Spot Steve Backshall’s Explorer Dusty and Joanna Lumley’s Absolutely Fabulous Patsy Duck together with many more! Dusty was exclusively designed by the world-famous Aardman studios to help celebrate WWT’s 70th anniversary by getting children closer to nature.

 Wild Child Kitchen and Trunkaroo have come together to celebrate the arrival of spring by hosting a family workshop at The Bright Emporium on Saturday 1st April from 10.30-11.30am. The workshop is aimed at ages 3-6, but littler and older ones are of course welcome! Children will be able to explore spring and its array of smells and tastes through a variety of activities and science experiments such as bag making, cookie decorating and sensory play. Guests will have the chance to pick up nutritious snacks from Wild Child Kitchen, and the Trunkaroo team will be on hand offering advice to parents about supporting creative and hands-on, project based learning for children.  Little ones can take home their creations as well as extra treats and offers from Wild Child Kitchen and Trunkaroo.We hope to see you there!

KCWC is delighted to invite members of Kensington Mums to our next General Meeting on Thursday 6 April, when we welcome guest speaker Alexandra Shulman, Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue. Alexandra will share details of her long-standing career and discuss her recent book, Inside Vogue: A Diary of My 100th Year. The General Meeting begins with a coffee hour at 9:30am; doors close at 10:30am when remarks begin. Please note that you will need to register with full name and email address upon arrival. Join Kensington Mums at My Kid Atelier for an Easter Party 4th of April 3:30pm – 5:30pm.  We will play games such as: “what’s missing”, egg relay races and egg toss. There will be an Easter bonnet parade and together we will make sun catchers & Easter bonnets, decorate egg’s and paint ceramic egg baskets. The afternoon will end with a Fun Easter egg hunt for all the children. Nibbles & drinks will be provided for both adults and children.
